Struck Twice

Here's my latest drawing, based off a photo of the lovely and talented strikes-twice ([link]) entitled "Modern Mayhem" ([link]) She did a wonderful cosplay of a female Loki and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to draw it.

When drawing from a photo I often like to switch things around, not because I think the photo is wrong but because it's a way to make the image mine. So for instance, I'm not sure whether it would be appropriate for a female Loki to have bluish skin and purple hair (in fact, I'm pretty sure it isn't), or the light aqua eyes, or anything of the sort. It's what seemed to me to make an interesting drawing and I think it works.

This is the first thing I've done in a while. I'd gotten away from drawing because there were a few things I had started and stopped because I lacked the drive to get it done. One of the things that I think works against me now is using Procreate's larger canvas; it makes the drawings longer to do and especially the not as fun parts of just blocking out the basic colors. I hope to keep doing more but as I said, it's a matter of finding the right inspiration. I can't just sit down and draw something (except when playing that Pictionary-inspired game); it has to be something I really want. It's one of the reasons I keep looking about what other people are doing, because I might find something there I'd like to do.
