This is my second drawing of the superlative Sophia Lancaster, this time posing as Poison from the Final Fight series.
From the time that I started drawing this to the time I created a proof, I had no idea who Poison was. She was a prototypical "I don't know who you are, but I like it" character, about which I will soon have a journal entry. I figured she was just some random pink haired vixen who could fight and look really good.
Of course, I was wrong about that. There's a very, very interesting tale to be told about Poison, who she is, how she developed, and indeed the controversy surrounding a female character introduced in a fighting game in 1989. Wikipedia doesn't do it justice, so I will simply direct you to this amusing documentary: ([link]
). I know some people don't want to be concerned with the subject of the documentary so I won't comment further here.
As for the drawing itself, I figured (before I knew) that Poison would have an alluring and almost hypnotic charm to her. I wanted to do a background that sort of reflected that, which actually took some time to figure out. At first I thought about trying to realistically draw some Christmas-style color lights, but after a bit of trying they looked silly. Instead I went for the more vague flashing lights without an identifiable source, perhaps what you might see after getting smacked with a punch from Poison. I also wanted to make the image itself fall along those lines, hence the shine off the eyes, teeth, collar and handcuffs. I think it worked well.
The drawing itself is based on the photo "8ight", as posted in Sophia Lancaster's deviantART here: ([link]

And, as always, thanks again to Sophia Lancaster for being far too many superlatives to mention and for allowing me to use her photo to draw her.
